10 Positive Quotes & Affirmations to Help you Feel Better
Has life got you down? This post will provide you with a series of positive affirmations and beautiful quotes to help you feel better, and hopefully find some peace of mind!
It’s perfectly naturally to experience low points in this journey we call life. If you are feeling run down, or experiencing a lot of stress, I empathise with you completely. Sometimes it isn’t as simple as painting on a smile and showing up. But we can make these hard times a little easier, by setting a positive intention to be kinder to ourselves.
We can even take some time out to immerse ourselves in some much needed positivity by reading blogs posts like this one.
If you haven’t been yourself lately, I invite you to spend some time in this positive space with me today. You deserve this mental respite. I’d go further and suggest that you deserve to soak in some positive light, even if only for a minute.
I do have to include a disclaimer at this point in our journey together. I’m not a qualified Therapist, just a fellow human that wants to help you feel better! Phew! Now that’s over with … on with the show.
Positive Quotes & Affirmations to Help you Feel Better
For the purpose of today, all affirmations will be written as if I am saying them to you directly. But please feel free to replace ‘you’ with ‘I’ etc. if you would like to use them moving forwards in your own daily affirmation practise.
If you wish to enhance this experience, you could light a candle, or burn some incense. Please take this as time for you to relax, feel good and forget any cares or worries that might be causing you to over think or doubt yourself.
You are enough
You are enough. It’s time to release any doubt in your own abilities. You can and you will succeed, and even if you fail the first time around, it’s no big deal! Failure is just the amalgamation of a series of awesome lessons learned.
The way people treat you, is a statement about who they are as a human being. It is not a statement about you.
There are people in this world who seek to bring others down to make themselves feel better. But that is their issue, not yours. You don’t need to carry the burden of other people’s dishonourable intentions. Stand tall, stay true to your own integrity and be safe in the knowledge that this will pass.
You are stronger than you think
Even on your darkest days you can and will make it to the finish line. You are determined and resilient. But most of all, you have an abundance of inner strength.
Man never made any material as resilient as the human spirit.
-Bernard Williams
You are so much more resilient than you may feel right now. Even through the heart-breaking sorrow, you can not just survive, you can thrive! The fact that we are alive at all, and can experience this big old buffet of emotions, is simply amazing. Take a moment to soak that in.
Perfect is a nonsense word
Give yourself permission for once, to try, and most likely fail and then TRY again. Whilst there may never be the ‘perfect’ time, there sure as hell, is no time like the present. Sometimes all you need is to stop overthinking, and get out of your own way. Trust me, I am an over thinker myself, so I am right there with you on this one. But this is something that I am really working on.
Waking up this morning, I smile. Twenty-four brand new hours are before me. I vow to live fully in each moment.
–Thich Nhat Hanh
Sometimes it might feel like certain aspects of your life will never improve. Take the time to be in the moment and appreciate the things you already have. As a result you may find that you have a renewed sense of vigour.
You may even find yourself with some energy to work towards the things you are yet to have, or have those difficult conversations that may need to occur to improve a situation.
You got this!
I can’t stress this point enough. Even if you feel like you don’t got this. You DO got this! If you are going through a period of stress (be this at work or in your personal life) try to think of this experience as an opportunity to grow.
Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn’t learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn’t learn a little, at least we didn’t get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn’t die; so let us all be thankful.
– Buddha
There is nothing I could possibly add to further this point from the Buddha. Simply soak in the beauty and meaning within the quote.
You don’t need to worry about things that are outside of your control
Stop holding on so tightly to the things that are outside of your control. Ask yourself, is there anything I can do to fix this situation right now? Or am I simply wasting my energy dwelling on a load of what ifs? Could your energy be focused toward improving something within your control or right in front of you instead?
Inch by inch, life’s a cinch. Yard by yard, life’s hard
It’s easy to focus on the full mountain ahead of you and quit before you even start. But all mountains are made up of incremental steps that you have full control over. The steps you take today (no matter how small) can positively affect all of your tomorrow’s!
The most important act is to take the first step.

Maybe you could start a bullet journal? It’s definitely on my to do list. Megan from Megan Elizabeth Lifestyle has a great post in which she shares why bullet journaling has been good for her mental health. I would encourage you to give it a read.
