In the digital realm, blogging is a choice that is becoming more popular.  Blogging is a job which is flexible, fun, personal and can be lucrative. If you want to create a blog and get yours noticed online this year, here are 5 tips and tricks to help!

Consider an SEO Audit

One of the essential things you will want to do during your web development is to implement SEO within your website content.  Overtime solid SEO implementation allows your website to rank highly on the search engine results pages.  This helps to increase visibility and the chance of people visiting your website. It is super important for you to do this because it will allow you to place your content in front of the right target audience.  You are also much more likely to gain income from advertising if you create a good SEO strategy from the outset.

Add a Splash of Colour

Colour is a huge draw for any target audience of specific demographic.  Take shop windows as a real-life example.  If you were to walk past a window with all black and white, it is likely that you wouldn’t take a second glance.  However if you were to walk past a row of bright colours and bold designs it might grab your attention. The same applies to your landing page, and you will want to bring as much colour into your landing page as you can without making things tacky.  Take a look at other successful blogs and see what kind of things they do to convey this message.

Have a Distinct Theme

It is important when you are creating a blog that you come up with a theme for the following areas:

  • Your content
  • For the style of your design

If you have patterns and stripes and italic writing everywhere, things can look messy and confusing.  Be sure to set out a theme that communicates to your audience in a positive way.  If you have a travel blog perhaps you could fill your backgrounds with earthy tones or landscape images to fit the tone of your site.

Create Amazing Content

Content is the key to getting noticed online, and if you don’t produce good quality content, you will never manage to keep people interested in your blog.  Whenever you create a blog post it should come from a place of genuine interest.  This will shine through and get others as excited about the subject matter as you are! Set aside valuable time to re-read and check over your work before you make it public. Valuable content will do a lot of the work for you and keep people returning to your site.

Use Video

This is an area that I personally know I need to work on!  Having a video banner on your landing page can be a great way to catch the eye and grab the attention of your audience. Have a think about the different types of video you can create.  Video tends to have a positive impact on your web views!

I read your tip not to keep your black too black and white and I looked over to mine and guess what! It’s black and white. I do need a change, thanks for the tip!
